Various types of truck gun storage are available if you carry firearms in your rig and need a place to stow them safely away from plain view. While there are no laws against gun cases and racks in 47 states, you must not go beyond the legal boundaries set in place to control gun possession and transport.
Leaving a weapon within plain sight is asking for trouble. Someone could steal or forcibly take your firearm and use it to rob a convenience store. Although you weren’t in any way involved, guess who will take the fall for the crime. That would be you since you are the gun’s registered owner. For this reason, you should make it hard for anyone to steal, or even see, your guns in your vehicle for this is the easiest way to lose them.
If you have to bring your gun for hunting, camping or for any legal reason, you need to stow them in one of those truck gun safes where they will be hard for others to see but easy for you to access.
In case you have to know, some states have stringent gun transportation laws put in place. They discourage the use of gun racks as they make no attempt to conceal the weapons. The best solution is to store your firearms in a gun safe in your vehicle to avoid legal hassles.
The downside is if you are caught in a dangerous situation, you won’t be able to reach for your weapon fast enough as it is locked in a safe. There is another type of truck gun weapon storage which will enable you to quickly reach for your firearm while keeping it from one’s view. These are behind seat or underseat storage cases which are conveniently installed behind or under your rig’s back seat.
Although storage cases may be within reach, you still need to pop up (or down if using the behind seat types) the rear seats to get to your firearms. Most people prefer the open gun rack for faster weapon access.
